Hello paddlers.
Hope everyone has been having a good winter. Thank you to everyone who came out to our AGM on Thursday night and helping up plan our up coming season. For those of you who couldn't make it, here are a few highlights.
Season: Our organized season will run this year from early April (whenever we get the boat in the water) to July. After this, we will play it by ear as to how paddling will happen. We will aim to travel to Kitimat and Terrace for their races this year, but no out of region race is planned.
Recruitment: We are entering this season low on numbers, so we will be looking to recruit and keep around 10 new people. So please, anyone you meet who might be interested, let them know about us and that we are are a team for anyone, male or female, survivor or just a supporter, we want them.
Relay for Life: We are entering as a team in the 2014 relay for life on Saturday May 24th at the Middle School / Civic Centre field. Our team is registered on the Relay for Life site and is ready for you to sign up. Exact details on the day will be hammered out later, so stay tuned.
Coaching Clinic: We will not be having someone come up this year, but we will be sending our coaches away for some work and when they return we will have an all day session, much like we do during coaching weekends.
CBCF Grant: The team has decided to once again apply to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for the dragon boat team funding grant. With this comes the requirement that we preform 4 awareness events throughout the year to help spread awareness. The executive will be looking at some fun things that the team will be able to do for these events to get people involved.
